Reel Michigan 

After a successful premiere of Reel Michigan 2011, the Northville Art House and charity partner Northville Civic Concern are proud to present the second annual “Reel Michigan” Film Festival, June 23, 2012!

Reel Michigan is now accepting Michigan-made or Michigan-themed short films (25 minutes or less, including credits) as a part of the City’s popular Arts & Acts event held June 22 through June 24, 2012. Arts and Acts is a vibrant, annual celebration of the arts in Southeast Michigan featuring art, music, film, plays and more!

Short on Words 

The search is on for inspired authors with a keen eye.  “Short on Words” is a Poetry and Short Story Event being held in conjunction with Northville’s 2012 Arts & Acts Festival. The festival is a premier Michigan event which  shines a spotlight on the imagination, art, talent and cultural diversity of Michigan artists. It cultivates creativity to open the eyes and minds of festival goers from across the state and across the country. The 2012 event will add one more layer to the tapestry of talent with the “Short on Words” writing contest. Preservation Dental is the proud sponsor of the first edition of this literary competition.

There are three featured photographs for this year’s event (see below).  Poems and Short Stories must speak to one of the photos. Entries should be no longer  than 1,500 words and must be postmarked no later than May 4, 2012. The cash award  for this year’s first place contest winner is $150; second place is $100; third place is $50. There will be additional prize recognition awarded at the discretion of the judges.

The prestigious panel of judges includes: published author Michelle Fecht (Member, Northville  City Council) and the nationally-recognized principal Ellen Demray from Grandview Elementary School (Livonia).
