Arts Commission Minutes

Sue Taylor called the meeting of the Northville Arts Commission (NAC) to order at 7:30 at City Hall.

Attendees: Sharon Rossow, Sonia Swigart, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor, Irme Tracy

Absent: Marie Barr, Pat Dorrian-Sandbothe, Ken Naigus

The minutes of the previous meeting on November 20^th 2001 were approved.

• Team decided that the date of the NAC regular meeting date should be changed because of member’s schedule conflicts.

• Kathleen will follow-up with all members to determine best day and then notify members of change.

• Team discussed post-mortem report submitted by Barbara Davies.

• Team concluded that the ornament program should be discontinued.

• Commission will continue to explore viable alternatives to the holiday ornament program and agreed that a new memento should not have a holiday theme so that it could be sold all year.

• Irme suggested we use the sculpture as the theme for a new program. Team needs to verify with Ken what rights we’ll have to the sculpture design.

• Team determined that distributing informative flyers for the NAC’s various events was a worthwhile effort for increasing ticket sales and promoting NAC in the community.

• Team also discussed producing a calendar of NAC events as well as sending postcards as reminders of events.

• Sharon recommended that the individuals who overpaid for the Michael Farrell series ($55 instead of $45) should be refunded and the team agreed. Sharon will work with Marie carry out refund.

• Sue suggested that the NAC mailing list include individual music teachers from Northville, Novi and Plymouth. Kathleen will find names and add to mailing list.

• Sharon gave Kathleen F.A.N. Club cards to add to mailing list.

• Team decided to explore the costs of printing new stationary for NAC including letterhead and envelopes. It was determined that buying preprinted stationary and envelopes in volume would save on overall distribution cost of various promotional pieces.

• January 22 – dinner with Barbara Davies, 6:30pm at Station 885 in Plymouth

• January 23 – second Michael Farrell lecture, NHS

• January 27 – first winter concert, Robert Jones, 3:00pm at Gennitti’s Little Theatre

• February 13^th – next regular meeting

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm
