Northville Arts Commission
Regular Meeting Minutes / February 5, 2003

Ken Naigus called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm at Sue Taylor’s house.

Attendees: Pat Dorrian-Sandbothe, Ken Naigus, Kathleen O’Brien, Sharon Rossow, Sonia Swigart, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor

Absent: none

Budget

Team reviewed ytd 2002/2003 budget as a starting point for developing 2003/2004 budget.

Kathleen agreed to follow-up with City and report back to team on budget questions/discrepancies.

Fundraising

Kathleen outlined the currrent 2003/2004 fundraising plan and the team agreed to earmark certain funds for certain programs as follows:

Grant from Community Foundation-season finale summer concert series

Corporate Sponsorship – sculpture

Charity Night - tbd

T-shirt Sales – student art show, then toward new program seed money (summer music festival)

Library sculpture dedication and fundraiser-sculpture

Bandshell collections - sculpture

Membership Program - tbd

Summer 2003 Bandshell Concerts

Commission decided that instead of a separate Saturday night Blues concert series, that the Friday series be extended by one week and that Bugs Beddow would be asked to perform at the last concert.

The last concert will be an end of season celebration/finale with the possibility of additional entertainment/activities. The Commission will use the venue to begin promotion for Fall/Winter programming and the Community Foundation will be the primary sponsor of the season finale.

Feb. 9^th Robert Jones Concert

In Ken’s absence, Sharon volunteered to sell tickets and manage cash box.

Sonia volunteered to announce musician.

Misc.

The NAC will approach the Marquis Theatre about offering support when theatre opens after fire clean-up.

February 18^th – NAC Goals and Objectives Review with City Council, 6:00pm, Town Hall

February 23^rd – Winter Concert Series, Chris McCall, 3:00pm, Genitti’s Little Theatre
