Arts Commission MinutesNorthville Arts Commission Ken Naigus called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at City Hall. Attendees: Ann Brenner, Ken Naigus, Kathleen O’Brien, Sharon Rossow, Emily Sherman, Sonia Swigart, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor Guests: Pat Brown, Mary Lou Greene, Sue Vitali Art Market Ann Brenner secured the schedule of volunteers for the Art Market. Summer Clock Concerts Ken suggested that we debrief at a later date and brainstorm ways to make the series better. Michael Farrell Lecture Series Sharon reported that there will be five lectures, beginning in January and she is still working with Michael on subject matter and dates. Dates and subject matter should be determined by beginning-mid October. Winter Indoor Concert Series Ken reported that the concerts are scheduled for January 11, January 25 and February and February 8th (The Superbowl is Sunday, February 1st!). Concerts will begin at 7:00pm and Genitti's will be offering dinner beforehand. The 1st concert will be Matt Watroba and Robert Jones, the second (booked after the meeting) will be Eric Hamilton and the third concert will be the Sheila Landis Trio. Tickets will be $10 ea. for concert only and a package price tbd will be worked out with Genitti's for dinner and the concert. Art Classes Emily Sherman reported on the fall programs registration status. Baseline Sculpture Project & Fundraiser Emily Sherman reported that the Barr's have agreed to host a fundraiser in their home on Sunday, November 9th. The tentative itinerary is
Members agreed upon ticket price of $60. The final details of the fundraiser will be addressed and decided upon at a special meeting on Wed. September 17th, 7:00pm at Parks and Recreation. Library Sculpture Project Kathleen reported that the donor has the sculpture and is waiting on glass and the stand which both have been ordered. Mary Lou suggested that the sculpture dedication coincide with the first Winter Concert. Kathleen will follow-up with donor, library and artist to see if January 11th will work for the dedication at the library, immediately preceding dinner and concert at Genitti's. Since the installation of the piece will likely happen before the dedication, the Commission will ensure that signage regarding the future dedication will accompany the piece. PSO Educational Outreach Program Pilot Mary Lou Greene reported that she would be meeting with Dr. Anderson before the next regular Arts Commission meeting (Oct. 8th) to find out whether or not he approves of the Amerman pilot for this school year. If approved, Mary Lou will explore Target grants and the PTO as funding sources. Up-coming Dates to Remember September 17th - Eight Mile Project fundraiser planning meeting; 7:00pm Parks and Rec. conference room October 8th - Next regular Arts Commission meeting; 7:30pm City Hall November 9th - 8-Mile Project fundraiser; 2:30pm start at Inch Memorial, 3:30pm start at D.
