Arts Commission Minutes

Ken Naigus called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm at City Hall.

Attendees: Ken Naigus, Sonia Swigart, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor

Absent: Ann Brenner, Laurie Fowler, Mary Lou Greene, Sharon Rossow, Emily Sherman, Sue Vitali

Clean-up: Team discussed the clean-up that needs to be done at Art House inside and out and Sue updated the task list.

Landscape: Sue reported that she has contacted scout groups in the area to request that they assume some large landscaping projects for this fall. She expects to hear back from the groups this fall.

Programming: Sue, Kathleen and Ken discussed the various programs they have scheduled at the Art House this fall, including the camera club, travelogue presentations, the Speaker’s Bureau series and Michael Farrell series.

Logo: Kathleen brought logo submissions to meeting and commissioners voted. The group decided on the design submitted by Darcel Deneau. Parks and Recreation will have to approve logo also.

Exhibitions: Kathleen and Sue reported that the exhibition committee has met once to establish the guidelines and format for art exhibitions at the Art House and other community locations.

Grand Opening: Several ideas were discussed for the Grand Opening, the timing for which will most likely coincide with when the Art House is ready for its first exhibition, hopefully November.

Hutton Park Sculpture Project contenders- attendees placed their vote for the Hutton Park sculpture based on the models that Ken brought to the meeting.
