Arts Commission MinutesNORTHVILLE ARTS COMMISSION CALL TO ORDER/ATTENDANCE Ann Brenner, Arlene Catrett, Darcy Deneau, Ken Naigus, Mary Poole, Sonia Swigart, Sue Taylor, Susan Vitali APPROVAL OF MINUTES FINANCIAL REPORT -- Nothing to report this month COMMITTEE REPORTS Art House -- Sue Taylor reported on progress at the Art House. Darcy Deneau reported on the progress of the permanent sign. Sharon Rossow requested a podium for lectures and will follow-up with the School District and Churches in the area. Art Market -- Sue Taylor reported on Art Market. Four people are needed after the parade on Friday to help set up the tent. Marketing/Publicity -- (Laurie Fowler was not present at this meeting for an update) OLD BUSINESS Winter Concert Series -- The current thinking is to have three concerts featuring single performers in order to keep costs down. Sue Taylor suggested talking to the High School Music Department for ideas to coordinate with what is being studied. Ken will follow up on this suggestion. Michael Farrell Series -- The Fall series (9/28, 10/26 & 11/30) will be held at the Art House. (Publicity is needed for this program.) NEW BUSINESS Northville Camera Club -- Ken Naigus reported that this club will be held the third Tuesday of the month and is being run in cooperation with Thomas James from Northville Camera. A small dues fee is being charged to cover the cost of the room rental. (Publicity is needed for this program.) National Parks Series -- Ken Naigus will host this Travelogue Series starting 9/23 at the Art House. (Publicity is needed for this program.) Miscellaneous -- Cheri Pelic, a volunteer, has offered to do a newsletter for members and interested people. PRESENTATIONS -- COMMENTS FROM THE COMMISSION, GUESTS Mary Poole asked about our "nonprofit" status. Ken noted that while we are officially a "non-profit" group, as a commission under the City, we are "not-for-profit" and can accept grants and offer tax deductions to donors.
