FINANCIAL REPORT- Sue Taylor reported that the Art Market brought in $12,800.00
GUEST INTRODUCTIONS/PRESENTATION Mary Lapetz offered to help with gallery exhibitions at the Art House.
OLD BUSINESS Grand Opening It was suggested that the Grand Opening be held either February 25 or March 4 depending on the availability of Rob Maniscalco. . Ken Naigus will make arrangements with this artist. It has also been suggested that the Grand Opening be an affair to introduce the community to Art House rather than a fundraiser. Volunteers who offered to be on this committee include original chairpersons, Sue Taylor and Kathleen Tabacyznski, in addition to Darcy Deneau, Gwen Senatore, Galina Koriduzki, Sharon Rossow, and Mary Lou Greene. Fundraiser A motion was made by Laurie Fowler and seconded by Sharon Rossow that the Parks and Recreation Department and the Northville Arts Commission hold a dinner on April 30 in conjunction with the Box Auction. The dinner will be held at Genitti’s Restaurant. Volunteers who offered to be on this committee with Chairperson, Emily Sherman, include Sue Taylor, Kathleen Tabacyznski, Susan Vitali, Darcy Deneau, Mary Poole, and Arlene Catrett. Winter Concert Series Sue Taylor reported that Genitti's wants the concerts to be scheduled on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Ken Naigus will make these arrangements. It was suggested that the jazz groups at the high school be contacted as this might draw a lot of people.
NEW BUSINESS NAC Update Sue Taylor reported that she and Ken Negus met with Emily Sherman and Traci Sincock from Parks and Recreation in order to clear up any questions regarding our partnership and facility bookings. It was stressed that the Art House endeavor is a collaborative effort and not a competitive effort. In addition, Sue stressed the importance of keys to the Art House being registered with Parks and Recreation. If a Commissioner desires a key, they must see Emily who will issue and record any checked-out keys. Art Bins Cheri Pelic suggested that we might want to make up Art Bins to be used for teaching children about art. The idea sparked the idea of having an Art Library at the Art House with donated books that could be checked out. This may be an idea for the future.
COMMITTEE REPORTS Art Market Sue Taylor reported that she put surveys in the Artist packets this year and received positive feedback. Marketing & Publicity Laurie Fowler reported on their first meeting. They requested a list of Northville artists; Sue Taylor will provide what she has. The next meeting of the committee will be October 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Art House. Newsletter Cheri Pelic will create a quarterly newsletter. The first issue will be in January and the deadline for entries is December 1. All material needs to be submitted to Cheri; she will then put it into newsletter format. Cheri will coordinate the newsletter with the Marketing & Publicity Committee. Volunteer Committee Susan Vitali is keeping track of volunteers and how best they want to help NAC. Student Art Show Sue Taylor reported that the dates will be April 29 - May 5, 2005. Laurie Fowler will chair this committee. Sue received a list of potential volunteers from Susan Vitali and will call them to form a committee. Mary Lapetz offered to coordinate entries from home-schooled groups. Box Fundraiser Committee This event will be incorporated into the Dinner Auction at Genitti's on April 30. Membership Committee Susan Vitali and Sue Taylor will work on this Committee. Corporate Sponsor/Grant Writing Committee Susan Vitali drafted a "Corporate Sponsorship" form, specifically targeting certain events of NAC. Sue Taylor suggested that Susan talk with Ken Naigus as he has already done some work on this activity. Art Club Susan Vitali and Mary Lou Green reported that this year the Art Club is focusing on math and music.
MISCELLANEOUS Susan Vitali expressed concern about spending money on a new sign for the Art House. The group was informed that no money has been spent on signage yet and that Ken Naigus is planning on getting some publicity regarding a fundraiser effort for the sign.
