Meeting Minutes
July 13, 2005, 6:40 p.m.
ART HOUSE

Commissioners Present: Arlene Catrett, Darcel Deneau, Ken Naigus, Sharon Rossow, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor

(Due to family and work commitments, Ann Brenner has decided not to renew her Commissioner term, but will remain as a volunteer.)

Commissioners Absent: Laurie Fowler

Guests: Dianna Klawitter, Eric Simmons, Sandy Steffke

Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Darcel Deneau, seconded by Arlene Catrett and approved that the May and June 2005 minutes be approved.

Committee Reports:

Art House Refurbishment/Grounds -- Sue Taylor reported that the front yard landscaping by a Boy Scout is scheduled for August 13-14, 2005. Volunteers are needed for this weekend. August 15-20 is being targeted to prepare the upstairs floor for eventual studio rental. Help is needed then as well.

Old Business:

Art Market -- It was decided to sell water bottle holders at our booth. Darcy is also going to check into "artist-designed" coffee mugs.

Newsletter -- Cheri Pelic needs all information by next week.

New Business:

Strategic Planning for programming of the exhibition schedule -- Darcy Deneau prepared and presented an outline for programming our exhibitions and optimizing NAC growth through the exhibitions that will ultimately define us. The proposed plan consists of 1) establishing an annual schedule of exhibitions; 2) hiring a part-time director; and 3) establishing standards for shows. After discussion it was moved by Sue Taylor, seconded by Kathleen Tabaczynski and approved that the proposed plan be adopted. A meeting will be set up with Traci Sincock of Northville Parks & Recreation for collaboration in implementing this plan.
