Meeting Minutes
August 10, 2005, 7:30 p.m.
ART HOUSE

Commissioners Present: Arlene Catrett, Ken Naigus, Kathleen Tabaczynski, Sue Taylor

Commissioners Absent: Laurie Fowler, Sharon Rossow

Guests: Dianna Klawitter, Sandra Steffke, Eric Simmons, Nicole Passmore

Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Arlene Catrett, seconded by Kathleen Tabaczynski and approved that the July 13, 2005 minutes be approved.

Financial Report: Ken Naigus reviewed our financial records. We are still solvent.

Committee Reports:

Membership -- (Sandra Steffke presenting) It was agreed that we are going to sell water bottle holders + water bottle at Art Market. The water bottle holder will say Northville Art House and they will sell for $3 each or 2 for $5.

Volunteers -- Kathleen McLallen was unable to attend to give us an update. Ken Naigus will contact her.

Exhibition -- The Camera Club exhibit will be hung Friday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m. Volunteer help is needed.

Art House Refurbishment -- Signage: It was voted to spend money for a vertical banner to hang from the Art House announcing our exhibits. (Motion by Kathleen Tabaczynski and seconded by Arlene Catrett.) Sue Taylor will coordinate this effort. Studio Renovation: It was decided to put this on hold until a Gallery Director has been hired.

Old Business:

Art Market -- Kathleen Tabaczynski will be point of contact after September 8.

Newsletter -- It was voted to purchase software for our newsletter. (Motion by Kathleen Tabaczynski and seconded by Ken Naigus)

Summer Concerts -- Ken needs a substitute for August 19's concert and will ask Sharon Rossow.

New Business: Eric Simmons turned in his application to be a Northville Arts Commissioner! Welcome, Eric!

Strategic Planning: A meeting with Traci Sincock, Director of Parks and Recreation was held with Ken Naigus, Darcel Deneau and Sue Taylor to discuss hiring a Gallery Director. Traci counseled NAC to hire someone on a contractual basis for a specific amount of time (6 mos. to 1 year). Ken and Darcy will put together a job description and look at budget for salary range.
