Northville Arts Commission
Meeting Minutes
September 14, 2005, 7:30 p.m.
ART HOUSE

Commissioners Present: Arlene Catrett, Darcel Deneau, Ken Naigus, Eric Simmons, Kathleen Tabaczynski,

Commissioners Absent: Laurie Fowler, Sue Taylor

Guests: Dianna Klawitter, Sandra Steffke, Nicole Passmore

Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Kathleen Tabaczynski, seconded by Arlene Catrett and approved that the August 10, 2005 minutes be approved.

Financial Report:

  • Ken Naigus reviewed our financial records. We are still solvent.
  • Nichole Passmore distributed a tax exempt form and reported that all purchases made for NAC are tax exempt. The group agreed to use the form for all future purchases. Commissioners or volunteers that did not receive a form can pick one up at Parks and Recreation prior to making any purchases.

Committee Reports:

Membership

  • Sandra Steffke distributed the new membership brochure.
  • The group decided that some incentives were needed for the membership program.
  • Kathleen T. agreed to brainstorm with others on an incentive program and present at the next meeting.

Volunteers -- Kathleen T. reported that the volunteer schedule was in place for the Art Market weekend thanks to the efforts of volunteer coordinator Kathleen McLallen.

Exhibition – Kathleen T. agreed to contact Anna Haye to coordinate food set-up for the Camera exhibit upstairs on Saturday.

Old Business:

Art Market –

  • Kathleen T. is point of contact for the weekend.

NAC Voice Mail –

  • Kathleen T. will pick up NAC voicemail and keep voice mail message up-to-date.

New Business:

  • Its official, Eric Simmons is our newest Arts Commissioner! Welcome, Eric!
  • Ken extended an invitation (on behalf of the owner of a new store in town, Petite Maison), to the NAC women for a private party held at the store on November 3rd. More information to follow.

Strategic Planning: (Gallery Director)
  • The first interview (and information gathering session) for the Gallery Director position will take place on September 28th at 7:00pm at the Art House.
  • The Commission agreed that Wednesday nights from Sept. 28th through October would be designated for the interview process. There are multiple candidates at this time. Commissioners are to e-mail Ken their availability for these Wed. evenings ASAP.
