Arts Commission MinutesNorthville Arts Commission Commissioners Present: Arlene Catrett, Darcel Deneau, Ken Naigus, Sharon Rossow, Eric Simmons, Kathleen Tabacyznski, Sue Taylor Commissioners Absent: none Guests: Nicole Passmore, Mary Step The meeting was called to order by Commissioner, Ken Naigus at 7:40 p.m. Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Sharon Rossow, seconded by Kathleen Tabaczynski and approved that the September and October 2005 minutes be approved. Financial Report: None given Committee Reports: Art House Director Role update -- Aaron Timlin has agreed to fill the position as a Gallery Consultant. It was moved by Kathleen Tabaczynski, seconded by Sharon Rossow and approved by all that Aaron Timlin be accepted for this role. Aaron is currently working on a one-year plan for the Arts Commission and Art House. Old Business: Holiday Gift Show. Suggestions for future improvements include allowing artists to put out business cards, have more artists participate as gallery sitters during the course of the show and getting better signage throughout the City. Michael Farrell Update. The Lunch and Tour of his home was fabulous and should be repeated. Lectures for 2006 will begin and continue the third Wednesday of every month, from January through May. Base Line Folk Society Update. This has been a very successful program and will continue on the third Saturday of each month. Public Art Update. Eight sites have been selected for public art by the committee. Miscellaneous. Not locking the doors to the Art House has been a continual and constant problem. Nicole will remind Parks & Rec staff of this as well as it has been occurring outside of NAC events. New Business: New Finance Process. Jan Naigus will no longer be acting Treasurer. Any expenses should be put on a City form and dropped off at the drop box at City Hall. Revenue should be put on another City form and dropped off at the drop box at Parks and Recreation. It is the responsibility of each program owner to keep a detailed budget of that program. Ken will ask that forms be provided to us electronically. Newsletter Update. NAC brainstormed for a new wish list to put in the newsletter which Sue will write. Darcy will write an article on First Fridays and potential sponsorship opportunities for the Gallery. Ken will write an article regarding our new hire. NAC wishes everyone who reads this a happy, healthy and safe holiday season -- and don't forget the Art House!
