Beautification Commission MinutesCITY OF NORTHVILLE The meeting was called to order by Co-Chair Lestock at 7:15 PM at Charlotte Lenk’s home. Lestock thanked Charlotte for having the last meeting of the year 2001. Members present: DeMattos, Eden, Lenk, Lestock, Price, Rewald, Stapleton, Tague Members absent: Cusmano, Hansknecht Awards: New Recognition Certificates along with a letter were sent (typed by Carol Kasprowicz) to the six-(6) residents who wanted a new one for whatever reason. The letter explained the criteria used to get names and addresses. Resolution: The ‘Resolution’ was last amended on January 20, 1987. Lestock will mail copies to all members for their review over the winter. The commission members will go over the information at the April 2002 meeting. City Hall Fountain: The fountain in front of city hall has been moved to the DPW yard for the winter. A lighted tree will be placed there for the Holiday season. $22.30 was collected from the fountain and placed into the Beautification account. Eden was still interested in knowing if we could get the fountain to flow as Tom Holleman’s did (over the sides). Lestock will check. Newspaper Article: Lestock mentioned the article in the Record. It was in, but unfortunately much of the material was ‘tainted’ or wrong. The reporter had us confused with and incorporated much of the information with the Northville Garden Club. Rural Hill: The road is completed. Sign has yet to be set but slab is in. Bulbs: Lenk & Lestock removed the mums in the clock and planted daffodils. They also removed the plant debris in the Witch Wall and planted daff’s. Lestock also cleaned the garden debris from the Firemen’s Memorial at city hall. Rotary Luncheon: Lestock talked with Marie Barr, Township Beautification Commission, about changing the location of the Awards Luncheon. After their meeting it was decided this was the best venue to showcase their awards, as we do. BCSEM: Lestock asked if anyone was interested in attending the meeting in Easpointe on Thursday, December 6. No one will attend. BCSEM – Thursday, June 20, 2002: Costs were discussed. Prices right now are approximate: 1. Luncheon $20.00 2. Favor $1.00 3. Table centerpieces $7.00 DeMattos showed us the favor we will have at each place. ‘Goodie’ bags will not be used. Lestock will check on info available from city hall. Lestock will send out a letter to Jennifer Granholm after the first of the year.
