Beautification Commission Minutes

NORTHVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
September 9, 2003

Members present: Cusmano, Hayes, Lenk, Lestock, Rewald, Tague

Members absent: DeMattos, Hansknecht

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.

To get ready for the Victoria Festival Hayes and Tague deadheaded the planters on Main Street before the meeting. Lenk and Lestock will finish Center Street in the morning and spruce up the clock and Witch Wall. We have had many many many compliments on the planters this year.

Lestock discussed and passed out information about the America in Bloom program and thought that it would be a viable way in which to showcase our city. She learned of this program last fall. There were representatives from AIB at the International Master Gardener Conference she attended in June in Cincinnati. She has been in contact with Jan Spiker from Bay City, MI which was awarded honorable mention in 2002.

Lenk, Lestock, Hayes, Tague and Barr will attend the BCSEM meeting on September 18 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Dr. David Roberts will speak.

The City and Township Rotary Awards luncheon will be on Tuesday, September 30. The resident’s awards will be mailed that same week.

Lestock proudly announced to those commission members that were not at the Northville Boards & Commissions Appreciation Reception the previous week that she was this year’s shocked and very surprised recipient of the Claude N. Ely award.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 14. Would appreciate a call if you cannot attend.
