NORTHVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
Tuesday, June 8, 2004
Members present: Cusmano, Hansknecht, Hayes, Lestock, Rewald,
Tague
Members absent: Lenk
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Lestock advised that DeMattos has resigned and Lenk will not be
renewing their commissions. She also advised that she would, could,
maybe be leaving sometime next year. Her husband is planning on
retiring. We are now at six members on the Commission.
PLANTINGS:
Plantings are completed in the downtown area. Rewald will be
finishing the North Center Island tonight and Lestock will be
finishing the front of city hall sometime this week.
Jan Purtell did not get back with Lestock this month, so assume
that the Hillside students have scratched this from their schedule
this year; as did the high school ‘Make A Difference’ teens which
usually does the Randolph Street Island.
NEW SENIOR CENTER:
The landscape renovation is being worked on in front of the of
Parts & Rec building. All of the raised beds and free standing sign
have been removed. The Japanese maple has been relocated to the bed
on the east front of the building and new letters have been
installed – Northville Senior Center.
ADOPTING A ‘POCKET GARDEN’:
Soil has not been delivered to the Beal Street area, Lestock will
get with Gallogly.
BCSEM LUNCHEON:
Lestock attended the 40th Anniversary luncheon on May
16 at the St. Clair Inn. A Long Term Award (plate) was given to the
City of Northville.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM. The next meeting will be on
Tuesday, July 13. Would appreciate a call or e.mail if you are
unable to attend.
