Beautification Commission Minutes

NORTHVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
Tuesday – October 12, 2004

Members present: Hayes, Lestock, Rewald, Tague

Members absent: Cusmano, Hansknecht

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM by Chair Lestock.

AWARDS:

Tague discussed the Rotary awards luncheon which only she and Hayes attended. She advised that everything went well.

Tague and Hayes attended the Fall Quarterly meeting on Wednesday, September 22 at Mt. Clemens.

Lestock will get in contact with Traci Sincock (senior center) and Ken Naigus (Baseline sculpture) in regard to getting information together to submit to Keep Michigan Beautiful for their annual award.

As someone hit the clock again this year and damaged the south side of it. Gallogly advised that mums should not be planted there this season. The plants hanging over cover up the damage. Lestock ordered 300 red and yellow tulip bulbs. Gallogly advised that it would be repaired in time for bulb planting.

As they are overgrown, the daylilies in the Witch Wall should be divided this year.

After discussion, the plant material in the planters will, pretty much, be the same as this year. Lestock will contact Sparr’s in regard to ordering the Magilla Perilla. Lestock will also contact Lori Ward to find out if she will be ordering additional planters.

After talking with Gallogly, it was decided that the southern most bed on South Main not be planted with Stella’s this year as weeds are still coming up. Gallogly has sprayed this area. Lestock also sprayed Round Up on this bed and the other two beds on South Main.

Lestock will send Marty Walters, PEO group a thank your for their work on bed that they have adopted.

Tina Sellas – Township Beautification advised that the Gloria Morzek (Comerica Bank Manger) is interested in joining either Beautification Commission. Lestock will talk with Gary Word and contact her.
