NORTHVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
Tuesday – August 9, 2005

Commissioners present: Cusmano, Hansknecht, Hayes, Lestock, Rewald

Commissioners absent: Tague

Guest: Tracy Curtis

The meeting was called to order by Lestock at 7:10 PM.

PLANTERS: Are looking a bit piqued right now. Hopefully due to the heat and we have been having. DPW is watering three times a week. Lestock gave the DPW (3) sleeves of Miracle Gro fertilizer to add to the water over a two week period. Lestock feels the soil should be changed in the planters.

When planters are moved to the Yard this Fall, Lestock will request that the soil be dumped. Next Spring Miracle Gro soil will be used.

WITCH WALL & CLOCK: Lestock and Curtis trimmed back the clock and deadheaded the witch wall. Both were a dry.

Grasses in the clock are high. She drove her small car up to see how much they blocked the east bound lane. She advised that she could see traffic coming.

Lestock mentioned to Gallogly that perhaps the word ‘SLOW’ should be stenciled on the east bound lane before the clock.

POST OFFICE: Still needs a lot of help.

RESIDENTIAL AWARDS SELECTION: Lestock past out maps of the City. Eight areas were designated. Lenk again will help with this process. Up to 18 homes should be or could be selected from each area. Make sure the street address is correct. While driving in the area, see if you can find out if it is a street, drive, avenue, etc. Again ‘curb appeal’ is the criteria. A well maintained home along with a well maintained landscape. Sorry buy member’s homes are not illegible or homes with For Sale signs. And if there is no number (address) the home is definitely ineligible. Please be careful driving around.

Lestock will get the information for the members to check their selections addresses on the city web site.

DEADHEADING GERANIUMS IN FRONT OF CITY HALL: Cusmano and Hayes will share this task while Lestock is on vacation.

ROTARY LUNCHEON: Lestock will try to clarify the date as Rotarian Wayne Titus called today (talked with her husband) and advised that the joint luncheon would be on September 27.

BUSINESS AWARDS SELECTION: Members business selections were discussed: Hiller’s, Corriveau, Petit Masion, Little Italy, Law Offices of Jerome & Austin, UPS Building, Angela Carson, Starbucks, City Hall, Buckhave & Emily’s

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00.
