Beautification Commission Minutes

NORTHVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
Tuesday – September 20, 2005

Commissioners present: Hayes, Lestock

Commissioners absent: Cusmano, Hansknecht, Rewald, Tague

Guest: Tracy Curtis

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM in the park behind city hall.

Tracy Curtis was given an Application for Commissioner on the Beautification Commission.

JUDGING: Lestock collected ‘residential’ selections from those Commissioners in attendance.

PLANTERS: Planters plant material (Magilla, petunias, geraniums, African dusty miller, potato vine) were again discussed for next year. Lestock would like to pre-order from Sparr’s again this year.

PLANTINGS: Lestock planted five (5) Red Ribbons (med red – 2’/3’) Rose Bushes in the Treble Clef bed. These were purchased from Great Lakes Roses at the Farmers Market. She kept some of the Stella d’oro daylilies in among the roses. These will be removed at the roses grow. Lestock also weeded and cut back plant material in the band shell area. Total time 2-1/2 hours.

Lestock will order 200 bulbs to be planted in the clock.

Post Office did add some plant material but still looks really bad!

Lestock asked Dave ? – Water Department to turn off the water in the Treble Clef as the soil in the bed was very very soggy. Which is making the soil very very heavy.

AWARDS: Lestock will order frames and mats for the awards. She has already taken photos of the ten (10) selections for this year.

AWARDS LUNCHEON: Lestock advised that the Rotary luncheon date has been again changed to October 18.

MAINTENANCE: Curtis, Hayes and Lestock will meet at 2:30 at the clock on September 21 to remove the plant material in preparation to planting mums.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:00.
