CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION MINUTES
March 3, 2003

Mayor ProTem Carolann Ayers called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Northville City Hall Council Chambers, 215 West Main Street, Northville, Michigan.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Mayor ProTem Carolann Ayers, Councilmembers Kevin Hartshorne, Jerome Mittman, and Thomas Swigart.

Absent: Mayor Christopher Johnson (excused)

Also Present: City Manager Gary Word, Assistant City Manager/Finance Director Nicolette Bateson, Deputy City Clerk Carol Kasprowicz, DPW Director James Gallogly, and one citizen.

PRESENTATIONS:

A. Citizen Comments: None

REVIEW OF PRELIMINARY DRAWING OF TAFT ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

DPW Director Jim Gallogly presented preliminary drawings of a proposed reconstruction of Taft Road from Eight Mile Road to the Novi City limits. The proposed road is designed as a 20-ft. wide boulevard with landscaped dividers situated throughout the road.

Discussion points included placement of landscaped dividers, turnaround points, storm water concerns, bike paths versus use of sidewalks, possible use of traffic counts, modifications of design to reduce cost, and alternative options to Taft Road reconstruction. City Council deferred action on this matter to the regular meeting scheduled at 7:30 p.m., March 3, 2003, in Council Chambers.

No action taken.

Study session adjourned 7:25 p.m.
