CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
June 16, 2003
5:30 P.M.

Present: Councilmember Jerome Mittman, Councilmember Thomas Swigart, City Manager Gary Word, Assistant City Manager/Finance Director Nicolette Bateson, City Clerk Dianne Massa, DPW Director James Gallogly, DDA Executive Director Lori Ward, Beautification Commissioner Linda Lestock, and Arts Commission members Ken Naigus, Sue Taylor, Sonia Swigart, Sharon Rossow, Kathleen O’Brien and Ann Brenner.

Members of the City Council, Arts Commission, Beautification Commission, and City staff met at the home of local sculptor David Barr, 22600 Napier Road, Northville, Michigan. This was an informational meeting as the Arts Commission is doing research relative to locating a proposed second sculpture in the downtown. Mr. Barr is a retired college professor, as well as a renowned sculptor, and his work is on display throughout the world. He spoke briefly about his profession, including his passion for, and his philosophy on art. Those present toured Mr. Barr’s home, studio, and grounds, where he has many of his works on display.

No action was taken.

Meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
