DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Council Chambers - December 20, 2005 – 8:08 AM

Present: Mayor Christopher Johnson, Kim Behmer, Margene Buckhave, Lynda Heaton, Lou LaChance, David Larsen, Jim Long, Greg Presley, Rick Shaffner.

Absent: David Cole, Jim DeHaan (both excused)

Also Present: City Manager Gary Word, Assistant City Manager/Finance Director Nicolette Bateson, DDA Director Lori Ward, DPW Director James Gallogly, Recording Secretary Carol Kasprowicz, School Board Representative Joan Wadsworth, and Reporter from the Northville Journal.

Audience Comments – None

Approval of Minutes – None submitted.

Finance Committee Update – DDA Member Presley reviewed the discussions held between City Staff and the DDA Finance Subcommittee. He spoke of the data requested of the staff in an effort to prioritize future projects and aid Beckett & Raeder in their strategic planning recommendations.

Strategic Plan Update

• Downtown Steering Committee Update – Presley reviewed the outcome of the November 17 th DSC meeting and stated that Quinn Evans and MapInfo will be returning with additional information. Additionally, Director Ward stated the City staff has prepared a comprehensive data base of square footage of the each building in the downtown, use of the building, parking required by Zoning Ordinance, parking spaces provided, and parking credits assigned to each building. Carlisle and Wortman will provide an analysis of the parking to assist in determining where and how much parking is needed in the downtown.

• DDA Selection of Representatives for Joint Planning Meeting – A joint meeting is proposed with Beckett & Raeder, City Council members, Planning Commissioners, Historic District members, DDA members, Parks and Recreation Commissioners, and Northville Township Board members. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for either January 19th , 25, or 26th .

Motion Larsen, seconded by Behmer to appoint David Cole, Greg Presley, and Margene Buckhave as representatives of the DDA at the joint meeting proposed for sometime in January 2006. Motion carried unanimously.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m. All members were cordially invited to a Christmas breakfast held at the Buckhave residence. As this was the last DDA meeting to be attended by City Manager Gary Word (prior to his leaving for a position in Florida), all wished Mr. Word well.
