ELECTION COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
April 12, 2005

A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Northville, Michigan, was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the City of Northville Municipal Building, Conference Room, 215 West Main Street, Northville, Michigan, at 8:02 a.m. at which time and place the following Commission members were present:

Present: Dianne Massa, City Clerk/Chairperson

Robert Marzano, City Attorney

Jerome Mittman, Councilmember

Absent: None

Citizen Comments None

Approval of the Minutes

Motion Marzano, seconded by Mittman to approve the February 16, 2005 Election Commission meeting minutes as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

New Business

A. Approval of Board of Election Inspectors for the May 3, 2005 Election

The Commission reviewed the proposed Board of Election Inspectors. Applications are on file for each inspector.

Motion Marzano, seconded by Mittman to approve the Election Board assignments for the

May 3, 2005 Election as follows:

Precinct #1 – City Hall

Precinct #2 – Amerman Elementary School

Janiece Paver, Chairperson

Jeanne Tashjian, Chairperson

Lisa Malpede

Donald McCulloch

Jean Pankow

Dorothy Burtch

Susan DiDia

Marjorie Staszel

Motion carried unanimously.

B. Authorize the City Clerk to Perform Certain Election Commission Responsibilities

State law requires the Election Commission to perform certain duties related to the election. In the past, the City Clerk has assumed the responsibilities on behalf of the Election Commission which, include providing and preparing certain precinct supplies and forms, determining the number of voting stations needed at each precinct, preparing test charts (predetermined results) and test decks, and conducting preliminary and public accuracy testing (includes testing and sealing equipment).

Motion Mittman, seconded by Marzano to authorize the City Clerk to continue to perform the above-mentioned responsibilities on behalf of the Election Commission, and provide the Commission with a status report prior to the May 3, 2005 election. Motion carried unanimously.

C. Set Meeting Date

Motion Marzano, seconded by Mittman to call an Election Commission Meeting on Wednesday,

April 27, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. at the City of Northville Municipal Building, 215 W. Main Street, Northville, Michigan, 48167, for an update on the May 3, 2005 Election. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion None

Motion Marzano, seconded by Mittman to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
