Historic Commission MinutesNORTHVILLE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION 1. CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Tom Swigart called the Historic District Commission meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Absent: None. 3. Minutes: Motion by Cryderman, supported by Worley to approve the March 20, 2002 minutes as submitted. Motion unanimously carried. Voice Vote. 4. ADDITION Mr. Torriglia described plans to remove the existing kitchen and structure on the west wing. A new two-car garage and new kitchen with dining room will be built. The driveway will be relocated from the north side to the south side of the home and the new garage will be tucked in under the house. Pictures of the West and South elevations were submitted. Double hung windows to match the existing windows will be used. The roof, paint colors and trim will match that of the existing house. Motion by Culp, supported by Holleman to approve the application as submitted. Motion Unanimously Carried. Voice Vote. CASE #2
TRELLIS The applicant presented a diagram for a Victorian style garden trellis to be built between the driveway and the trellis. The trellis will be 15’ long by 10’ high and made of cedar. The entire trellis will be painted to match the house; cream with teal accents. The trellis will be planted in front of the concrete wall of the nursing home, Star Manor. The applicant stated that although the nursing home is well maintained, a decorative Victorian style garden trellis with an antique flowering vine (wisteria) is visually more pleasing. Chief Building Official, Richard Starling stated that BZA will review the trellis and how it relates to the fence ordinance. Motion by Holleman, supported by Culp to approve the application for the trellis, in concept. Motion Unanimously Carried. Voice Vote. CASE # 3
DEMOLITION OF BUILDING Motion by, Holleman supported by Cryderman to approve the application St. Motion unanimously carried. Voice Vote. Motion by, Cryderman supported by Culp to approve the application for the Demoltion based on the Northville Historical Document regarding Demolition Standards. Tom Holleman will co-ordinate the process. Motion Unanimously Carried. Voice. Vote. CASE #4
PICKET FENCE The Luikarts descrbed plans to construct a scalloped picket fence to complete the enclosure of the backyard. Motion by Cryderman, supported by Holleman to approve the application for the picket fence. Motion Unanimously Carried. Voice Vote. CASE #5
CHANGE TO ORIGINAL Motion by Culp, supported by Cryderman to approve the application for the signage for Old Church Square. Motion Unanimously Carried. Voice Vote. CASE #6
