Roof/Porch Shingles The contractor for Mrs. Bates stated that he plans to replace the existing roof shingles with a 3" tab, black shingle, similar to what is currently in place. He also stated that the roof line will change because he is adding a reverse gable. There will be a "little" overhang and "probably" a 1 and ½ foot eve. New siding will match the existing siding. Chief Building Official, Richard Starling stated he would not issue a building permit on the elementary drawing that was submitted. He needs to see the construction drawings, visual details which include the pitch of the roof, the overhangs, the elevation on all sides etc. Commissioner Comments and Concerns: Commissioners expressed concerns regarding the lack of details, the types of materials, and colors of paint. Motion by Gudritz, supported by Culp to refer the application back to the applicant for additional construction details. Voice Vote: Yeas: All. Motion Unanimously Carried. CASE #2
Additions The applicants presented plans for an addition to the rear of their home at 226 West Street. Renovations to the rear of the home occurred eight years ago by previous owners. Mr. Weybourne stated that they would now like to enhance that addition by adding a breakfast room and a third bedroom on the second level. The Chief Building Official stated that detailed construction drawings needed to be submitted. The drawings should include window sizes, designs, and specifications of over hangs, window and door trim etc. Generally a contractor will provide most of this information on the construction drawings. Motion by Cryderman, supported by Gudritz to refer the application back to the applicant pending additional information. Voice Vote: Ayes: All. Motion Unanimously Carried. CASE #3
Paint Color/Garage Door Linda Dickinson stated that the new house will be painted white (Gypsum 520-1), and the roof a GAF/Timberline - Pewter Gray blend. Samples of paint color and roof shingles were provided. The garage door will be a Masonite wood door, painted white. The wood front door will be stained. Motion by Gudritz, supported by Cryderman to accept the application for 577 Randolph for paint color and garage door as submitted. Voice Vote: Yeas: All. Motion Unanimously Carried. The commissioners also asked if the fire place foundation and the gutters (from a previous application) had ever been resolved. Discussion followed regarding the pre fabed fire place box and the gutters. Mr. Dickinson agreed to 5" copper gutters. Starling suggested a French Footing for the fireplace would be permitted and the fire place box could be bumped out with stones at the very bottom and esthetically would be pleasing. Motion by Cryderman, supported by Gudritz to amend the original motion to include 5" copper gutters, and to extend the stone foundation around the profile of the chimney. Voice Vote: Yeas: All. Motion Unanimously Carried. 7. ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Cryderman supported by Culp, to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 P.M. Voice vote: Motion Unanimously Carried. Respectfully submitted, P. S. Howard |
