NORTHVILLE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION 1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Johnson called the Historic District Commission meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL: 3. MINUTES: June 15, 2005. Motion by Culp, supported by Coponen to approve the June 15, 2005 minutes with changes. Add “and floor plan” after “site plan” to Commissioner Concerns under Case # 2. Add “or drawings of the intended plans for the new home to be provided” after “A statement of the intended plans for the new home should also be provided under Commissioner Concerns under Case #2. CASE #1
Motion by Culp, supported by Holleman to excuse Commissioner Coponen from any discussion or voting on case #1. Voice Vote: Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion Unanimously Carried. Walt Coponen stated that he was at the meeting to seek approval for the demolition of the building at 115 E. Dunlap and presented a plan for a new building to replace the demolished building and also a streetscape plan for the block of Dunlap where the building is located. He further stated the owners grounds for demolition are that he needs to expand and the current building is not expandable or movable. Additionally the building owner has been a resident and business owner in the City for many years and he would like to leave a landmark building. Motion by Holleman, supported by Culp to accept the application for completeness. Voice Vote: Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion Unanimously Carried. Motion by Holleman, supported by Rodgers to grant approval for demolition subject to the commissions final approval of sash colors, materials, façade and Planning and Zoning Board approval. Beacon Sign Company/Lasalle Bank Applicant stated that Standard Federal Banks statewide would be undergoing a name change to Lasalle Bank but the signage coloring and lettering style would remain the same. Chairman Johnson stated that the City Planning Consultant had done a sign review and made a note that prior to final approval of the submitted freestanding sign the applicant will need to reduce the proposed area of the secondary wall sign to 12 square feet and verify that the directional signs will be less that two square feet in area. Applicant stated that it was show on the submission at 11.9645 square feet which was a hair under twelve square feet already. Chairman Johnson asked Inspector Starling to verify the size of the secondary wall sign (elevation A) prior to his approval of the permit.
