Freedom of Information
Act (FOIA) Request for Records
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is the law that provides access
to public records, except for those protected from disclosure under the
Act. To request records, please complete the
Freedom of Information Act Request form.
Return the form to the City Clerk's Office, 215 W. Main Street,
Northville, Michigan, 48167 or fax it to 248-349-9244.
The City has five business days to respond if the request is
submitted in person or through the mail and six business days to respond
if the request is submitted electronically (not counting the day the
request is received). If necessary, the City may issue a ten-day
extension, which allows ten additional business days to search for the
requested information.
Charges may include the hourly wage, or a portion thereof, of the
lowest paid employee capable of performing the search, the costs of
copying, including the cost of commercial copies that cannot be made
on-site, and retrieval of on-site and off-site records.
If research and copying costs are estimated to exceed $50, a good
faith deposit of no more than 50% of the final cost shall be required.
