Leaf Collection Program

Leaf CollectionEach fall the City of Northville collects leaves, which residents have raked into the street gutter.  This is the only time during the year that residents are allowed to deposit material into the street.  This popular program begins in late October and is completed in mid December.

Brush Pickup

  • Branches can be stacked neatly behind the curb with the cut ends facing the street. Branches 6 feet long and up to 6 inches in diameter are accepted.
  • Every Monday, year-round, a crew will chip any branches left at the curb. Branches must be between the street and the sidewalk.
  • No roots, stumps, dirt, lumber, railroad ties or any wood with metal in it.

2018 leave collection is:

North of 8 mile: Nov. 5 and Dec. 3
South of 8 mile: Oct. 29 and Nov. 26

Compost collection ends Dec. 11

Rake your leaves to curbside, let the City do the rest

Residents like the benefit of having leaves picked up at curbside rather than bagging them and setting them out for composting. Our clean sweep of leaves is a more efficient way to compost. The biggest thing to remember is when you should be raking the leaves to the street.

Area A: North of Eight Mile: Nov. 5, and Dec. 3
