Website Linking Policy
The purpose of the City of Northville’s website is to provide information about the City’s government, services, and attractions.  The City’s website may provide links to websites outside the City’s website which also serve that purpose.  The City is not responsible for, and does not endorse, the information on any linked website unless the City’s website states otherwise.  The following criteria will be used to decide whether to grant requests for City website links.  If a particular request does not clearly fit any of the following criteria, the City Manager will decide whether to approve the request.  The City Manager may approve the requested website link if it serves the general purpose of the City’s website.

The City of Northville website will provide links to websites for:

  • Organizations with some relationship to the City (including, but not limited to: organizations contracting with the City, organizations sponsoring City activities or programs, and organizations participating in City activities or programs)
  • Generally recognized community organizations
  • Organizations providing information about art, cultural, and sporting activities in the City’s area
  • Organizations providing information about employment opportunities in the City
  • Organizations providing information about tourist attractions to the City
The City will not provide links from the website for:
  • Candidates for local, state, or federal offices
  • Political organizations or other organizations advocating a position on local, state, or federal issues
  • Corporate or other for-profit organizations unless they fit any of the criteria stated above
  • Individual or personal home pages
Tax and Assessing Data Look Up
The City of Northville does not guarantee that information on the Tax and Assessing Data Lookup is accurate, timely or complete, although the City strives to meet those criteria. Any errors or omissions will not negate the taxes or special assessments that are due and payable. The official records are at Northville City Hall for current year tax collections and delinquent Personal Property Taxes. Payments made for delinquent taxes are not reflected on this website. To determine if a real property tax payment has been made after the current collection period, contact the Wayne or Oakland County Treasurer.

Social Media Policy
The City of Northville’s social media policy is to report on events and activities, and provide updates and items of interest to anyone who follows us.

The City’s official website www.ci.northville.mi.us is the “go-to” source for information; however fast-changing information may be more current on our social media pages. When in doubt about which content is the most current, send us a message via social media and we will respond as soon as possible.

Social media is a 24/7 medium, however the City’s staff cannot monitor the sites round-the-clock. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away. Please follow the Golden Rule – treat others the way you want to be treated. The City assumes no responsibility for the content or management of information not posted by authorized City employees. If a user posts a comment that requires a response, it will be answered during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

When responding to our posts, The City of Northville reserves the right to delete comments that:
  • are not related to the topic of the post
  • support or oppose a ballot measure, political candidate or political party
  • are discriminatory, abusive or slanderous
  • contain obscene language
  • are primarily business advertisements
