Leaf Collection Program

Street view covered with fallen leavesEach fall the City of Northville collects leaves, which residents have raked into the street along the curb.  This is the only time during the year that residents are allowed to deposit material into the street.

The 2024 schedule is posted in the fall. View it here.

Residents can rake leaves into the street the weekend before their scheduled pick-up. Please do not include grass or twigs in the leaf piles, and do not rake leaves into a ditch.

If leaves are collecting in your yard and the pick-up is still a week or two away, consider putting leaves that fall early into compost bags. They can be set at the curb on trash day for composting or brushed into the street when leaf collection begins in your area.

Brush Pickup
  • Branches can be stacked neatly behind the curb with the cut ends facing the street. Branches 6 feet long and up to 6 inches in diameter are accepted.
  • Every Monday, year-round, a crew will chip any branches left at the curb. Branches must be between the street and the sidewalk.
  • No roots, stumps, dirt, lumber, railroad ties or any wood with metal in it.
