At the next regular Council meeting on Monday, March 18, Wendy Wilmers Longpre, director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Special Projects, will request authorization to submit an application to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. If the grant is awarded to the city, funds will be used for improvements to Ford Field (west), including permanent public restroom facilities and accessible walkways that will connect to the future riverwalk. The grant under consideration is in the amount of $500,000 with a 50% local match.
