The importance of a rain garden

Environmental groups are seeking to have homeowners manage stormwater on site rather than send it to the stormwater drains. Rain gardens should be planted as low maintenance. The plants and grasses used in a rain garden need to tolerate flooding for 48 hours and be able to survive dry conditions.
