Planning Commission
Purpose and Composition

The Planning Commission is charged with the powers and duties provided in the Michigan Planning Enabling Act.  Its mission includes development of the Master Plan and Master Plan updates, review and act on site plan developments and special land use requests, review and make recommendations to City Council on all rezoning requests, and review and recommend amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

The Commission consists of 9 members, that are City residents and qualified electors.  Membership shall be representative of important segments and geography of the City to the extend practicable.  Members serve 3-year terms, and are appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval by a majority vote of the City Council.  For more information contact the Building Department at 248-449-9902.
