Room Rentals

The City of Northville rents the Training and Meeting rooms as well as Council Chambers for the benefit of Northville area residents and groups. City Council has developed a system of rules and regulations for the maintenance and efficient operation of these facilities, which are listed on this page.

General Rules for Use
Priority use of the facility shall be determined as follows:
  1. Northville City Council
  2. Northville City Advisory Boards and Commissions
  3. Non-profit Organizations
  4. Profit Organizations
The City Manager or his designee shall use the following criteria when determining whether to grant permission for use of the facility:
  1. What is the nature of the meeting?
  2. Is membership to the group open to all persons without regard to race, color, sex, religion, or physical handicap?
  3. Would content of the meeting/activity interfere with the rights of the general public or proprietary functions of the City?

Scheduling will be done by the City Manager or his designee. All fees and deposits will be deposited in an appropriate City fund or account.

Rental Fees
Please inquire at City Manager's office.

A. Applications for use of the facilities must be made in writing by a responsible adult on the proper reservation forms. Forms are available in the City Manager’s office. The cashier’s office at City Hall will collect all fees and any security deposit and stamp the application paid. Applications must be returned to the City Manager. Applications will be processed by the City Manager or his designee.

B. The rental fee is required before any reservation will be confirmed. A minimum $50 security deposit may also be required. The rental fee and the security deposit shall be refunded if the reservation is canceled up to one week before the scheduled event. Any cancellation within six (6) days of the event shall be subject to an administration fee equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the original rental fee.

C. All rental fees and any security deposits must be received in check, cash, cashiers check, or money order.

D. The City Manager reserves the right to negotiate separate fees and to contract for continuing reservations on a daily, weekly, monthly or similar basis.

E. Rental security deposit shall be refunded less an amount necessary to cover any property damage, room reorganization charges, or excessive cleaning costs as determined by the City Manager. Payment of a damage deposit does not remove the liability of the Renter to pay for property damage or excessive clean-up, the cost of which may exceed the amount of the damage deposit.

Liability and Insurance
The City of Northville assumes no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for accidents or injuries to individuals, groups of individuals, or personal property, including City property. The City shall not be responsible for the overnight storage of equipment or exhibits. Proof of liability insurance coverage may be required as determined by the City Manager.

A. The City shall be responsible for general maintenance, including floors and other surfaces, and restrooms.

B. The Renter shall be responsible for all set-up, takedown, and return of tables, chairs, and other equipment to their proper locations, and shall be responsible for general clean-up and removal of any debris.

The Renter shall be responsible for assuring:
  1. Orderly behavior.
  2. Financial responsibility for any damages due to use of the facilities.
  3. Responsiveness to directives, rules and regulations of the City for use of the facilities.
