A section of Main Street is closed to vehicles when the Social District is in effect.A survey continues to gather information about the duration of street closures, alcohol sales, and additional amenities that could be provided in the Social District. The survey is open to the community until 5 p.m. on Jan. 24 and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

A special DDA meeting will be held at 8 a.m. on Jan. 27 to discuss survey results and community input from the Town Hall held on Jan. 12 in order to present a proposal to City Council.

Portions of Main and N. Center streets were closed to traffic last June to expand outdoor dining and permit sidewalk retail sales to help restaurants and businesses in downtown Northville manage successful operations during the pandemic. In August, the City/DDA obtained a Social District license from the State that allows downtown restaurants with a special permit to sell alcohol in designated cups that can be ordered to go and consumed within the commons area. Currently, the street closures will expire on March 1, 2021 unless they are extended by the City.

Your survey answers will help the DDA and City Council determine how to proceed with downtown street closures and other facets of the Social District throughout the year.
