Appointments have been filled for VaccinateNorthville’s Thursday, April 1 COVID-19 clinic at Schoolcraft College’s VisTaTech Center. Those signed up to get inoculations are residents of Northville or Northville Township ages 18 and older with an underlying condition as well as residents 50 and older, with or without underlying conditions.
On Thursday morning, the center received supplies of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. For those getting inoculations on Thursday (April 1), only one dose is needed.
The vaccine clinic is at 18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia, and will be held from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. In total, 3,000 residents are expected to be inoculated during the two-day clinic. The first day was March 26.
Visit VaccinateNorthville.com for information about future clinics and other resources. Residents who want to register for a vaccine (in the future) must create an account or use an existing one with Northville Parks and Recreation registration software to schedule an appointment.
The call center is now closed, since appointments are filled. Please do not call other Northville administrative departments (Township or City) as they are unable to access the COVID appointment registration software.
“We are excited to open it up to more residents,” said City of Northville Mayor Brian Turnbull. “Our priority for vaccinations in Northville was especially our valued seniors and residents ages 50 and older. We feel confident we’ve accomplished scheduling for these segments.”
“We recognize that some of our residents want to know what manufacturer they are receiving while booking the appointment, but because of supply issues, we are urging residents to be flexible,” said Todd L. Mutchler, Northville Township Manager and Director of Public Safety. “As Dr. Anthony Fauci said, ‘Take that vaccine rather than waiting for another vaccine, because all three of them are highly efficacious.’”
The National Guard and Wayne County Health Department nurses will deliver the vaccinations. For the second dosage of Moderna, the return appointment has been scheduled for April 23 at the same time as the first inoculation.
The appointments are intended to regulate the flow of guests. Dress appropriately for the weather as the waiting area is outdoors on sidewalks. Wear a mask to your appointment and clothing that makes it easy to expose your arm for the shot.
Nationally and locally, the demand for the vaccine exceeds the supply. With thousands of people trying to get an appointment, some will have difficulty getting one at this time.
